Eastern Michigan Eagles Football Schedule

As a member of the Mid-American Conference, the Eastern Michigan Eagles take on some of the best college football teams in the country during the regular season. Each fall Ypsilanti, Michigan is bursting with excitement as fans of the Eastern Michigan Eagles anticipate another thrilling college football season. The Eagles are coming off of a disappointing 2013 season that saw them win only one game in the conference and finish with a 2-10 overall record, but it appears as though a big turnaround could be in store for Eastern Michigan in 2014 and there is a sense of excitement surrounding the program as the start of the season nears. The MAC has long been one of the premiere conferences in college football and this season it should be as hotly contested as ever. The Eagles begin their 2014 season with a home game at Rynearson Stadium against the Morgan State Bears and you can be sure that both teams will be giving their all to start the season with a win. The Eagles don't play a home game for a month and a half following the opener, and it is not until October 11th that they play a home conference game against the Buffalo Bulls who were one of the top teams in the MAC last year. Two weeks later is perhaps the Eagles' biggest test of the year when the Northern Illinois Huskies come to Ypsilanti. The Huskies are the defending MAC champions after going 8-0 in the conference in 2013 and the Eagles could make a big statement with a win against Northern Illinois. The home schedule closes out with two big division games. The first against the Central Michigan Chippewas on November 1st and the final home game of the year against the Toledo Rockets on Friday, November 28th. There are plenty of exciting matchups at Rynearson Stadium this season and StubHub has tickets for all of them so pick out a game you want to attend and get your tickets today.

The Team

Last season was a difficult one for the Eagles as they finished second to last in the West division of the MAC, but they are ready to make a big charge up the division standings this year behind several important returning players. Quarterback Tyler Benz will be returning for his senior year and leading the team with the experience and confidence he has picked up during his time at Eastern Michigan. He will once again be targeting fellow senior and leading receiver Tyreese Russell as well as junior Dustin Creel who is coming off of a breakout sophomore season. Running back Bronson Hill will also help carry the offensive load and is coming off of a season where he carried for more than 1,100 yards. All of this adds up to an impressive offense that should be able to rack up the points against any team the Eagles face in 2014. The Eastern Michigan Eagles also will have the opportunity to make a lasting impression on national television when they take on the Florida Gators on September 6th. Even just keeping it close against a national SEC power like Florida could bode well for the Eagles as they get ready to enter MAC play, and if they can pull off an upset road win there is no telling how far the Eagles could go. Coach Chris Creighton will also be looking to get his troops fired up and to score some impressive wins in his first year as the Eagles' head coach.

The Experience

College football fans, particularly those in Eastern Michigan, bring an intensity to the contests that is unmatched by fans of professional teams. Many fans find that supporting a college team is part of a tradition that may have been in the family for a long time or one that may have begun while spending years studying on the campus and attending games as a student. Die hard fans reserve each Saturday to take part in all of the traditions surrounding a college football game. These loyal adherents wake up early and are off to the stadium parking lot to tailgate prior to the game. Upon entering the stadium, they can be heard screaming their heads off for their favorite team to pull out a big win. It's a real thrill to be in the stands when the star player takes it into the end zone for the win. When you head out for a big football game you're sure to experience all that comes with a gridiron clash. The parking lot at the stadium will be filled with people gearing up for the big game, grilling up some grub and sipping on a few beverages as well. It's all one big lead up to the main event, which is the game itself. It's all one great experience that really takes an entire day to appreciate, and you can be a part of it all when you head to a game.

Eastern Michigan Eagles Football Conference

For years the MAC has been one of the preeminent conferences in college football and it continues to be home to some of the best players and most exciting games in the sport. In fact, the MAC has earned the nickname of the Conference of Quarterbacks after producing several players who went on to star in the NFL at the position. The MAC is divided into two divisions the East, which consists of Miami (Oho), Bowling Green, Massachusetts, Akron, Buffalo, Kent State, and Ohio, and the West which is made up of NIU, Ball State, Central Michigan, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan. Each game in the MAC is a big time match up and you will want to be sure to get your tickets now while the best seats are still available. The top teams from the MAC advance to play in three bowl games per their contract: the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, the GoDaddy.com Bowl, and the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.
