Eddie Money, born Eddie Mahoney, was on the track to follow his father into the police force in New York and become a Brooklyn cop. Money even went to the New York Police Academy during the '70s and at the same time was playing in rock bands at night. Realizing that he wanted to pursue his career as a musician, Money moved to Berkley, California and played the Bay Area scene. Money got a record deal and released his debut record in 1977.
