Edie Brickell was born in 1966 in Dallas, Texas and went on to attend Southern Methodist University. In 1985, Brickell got on stage at a bar and sang with the local band The New Bohemians who eventually asked her to join them permanently. Brickell put her songwriting skills to work and the band released their first album in 1988 called Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars.
