Eels tickets - Eels tour dates

Eels Schedule

Although Eels is often billed as a full-blown band, singer/songwriter E is the man behind the music and direction of the project. Renowned for their edgy humor, E's lyrics often cover topics like mortality, depression and doubt while simultaneously offering doses of hope overshadowing the despair. Eels have had bouts of mainstream success and they have always managed to sustain a loyal and strong cult following.

To find out where you can catch this authentic indie rock band, all you need to do is stick right here on StubHub. StubHub offers the latest and greatest concert listings along with venue details, seating charts and more! So what are you waiting for?! Check out Eels current schedule on StubHub today!

Eels Background

Established in California in 1995, Eels was the brainchild of prolific instrumentalist Mark Oliver Everett, better recognized as "E." Band members have come and gone over the years, but the Eels' themes remain steadfast, often covering topics of lost love, death and family. Eels' music runs the gamut of genres, which is proven with the unusual musical arrangements of every album.

E's debut album was Bad Dude in Love, which arrived in 1985 and was released independently under Joe Mama Records. Five hundred copies of the album were released and distributed mainly to friends and for publicity purposes. A Man Called E came next in 1992 under the name E. The tune "Hello Cruel World" drew some attention. To promote the album, E was the opening act for Tori Amos. Broken Toy Shop followed in 1993. This year also celebrated the start of E's teaming with Jonathan "Butch" Norton, drummer.

Eels was officially established when Norton and E were introduced to Tommy Walter. The name was carefully selected so that the band's albums would stay in the same alphabetical range of E's solo records. After the fact, it was realized that multiple Eagles and Earth, Wind and Fire records fell in between.

Beautiful Freak, the band's debut album, arrived in 1996. The dark pop record with distressed lyrics contained tracks like "Susan's House," "Your Lucky Day in Hell" and "Novocaine for the Soul." They fared well on the international and national music scene, claiming the Best International Breakthrough Act award at the 1998 BRIT Awards.

The Eels toured tirelessly to promote the album, taking the stage at many festivals, like The Jizz Fest 1997.

The soundtrack of the blockbuster movie, Shrek, featured "My Beloved Monster." And two other tunes from the album, "Guest List" and "Not Ready Yet" were included in TV's Homicide: Life on the Street. The Scream 2 movie included the song "Your Lucky Day in Hell."

What should have been a time for Eels to enjoy the mounting success turned out to be one of tremendous heartbreak. He lost both his sister and his mother around the same time. The melancholy mood resounded in the second album, Electro-Shock Blues.

Daisies of the Galaxy arrived in 2000, which was a little bit on the brighter side and included a guest appearance by Peter Buck (guitarist) of R.E.M. Even thought the album failed to garner mainstream success, E formed "the Eels Orchestra" and embarked on a global tour. Featuring trumpet, trombone, saxophone, upright bass, violin, guitar, banjo, clarinet, timpani and melodica, the six-piece band had each member picking up three to four various instruments every night.

Following a live recording of the Eels Orchestra tour, Oh What a Beautiful Morning was released on the group's official website. E then set out to get ready for the fourth studio album. Instead of relying on his own writing, E collaborated with John Parish. The collaboration culminated into Souljacker, which eclipsed the music scene in September 2001. In support of the effort, Parish joined E and Norton for a tour, and Koool G Murder (bassist/synthesizer) came along for the ride as well. The live disc, Electro-Shock Blues Show, resulted from the tour.

In 2003, Eels/E releases were bountiful, which included E's contribution to the indie film, Levity. The fifth studio album, Shootenanny!, also dropped. Blinking Lights and Other Revelations followed in 2005. The double album featured over 30 tunes. Eeels' With Strings: Live at Town Hall also came out in 2005. Three years later, Eels put out a pair of CD/DVD sets, comprised of: Meet the Eels: Essential Eels 1996-2006, Vol. 1 and Useless Trinkets: B Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities & Unreleased 1996-2007. The band also contributed a string of songs to the soundtrack of the Jim Carrey comedy film, Yes Man. E continued his musical efforts with the release of Hombre Lobo (2009); End Times (2010); Tomorrow Morning (2010); Wonderful, Glorious (2013); and The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett (2014).
