The show's original run in the West End was comprised of such famous stage actors as Elaine Paige, David Essex, Joss Ackland! The show had an enormously successful run and eventually was prepared for the Broadway crowd! On the show's initial run on Broadway, some of the actors were succeeded by such greats of the stage as Marti Webb, Stephanie Lawrence, and Siobhan McCarthy. The music in Evita was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with the lyrics done by Tim Rice. Though they both are to thank for the success of the show, this story almost never happened! Tim Rice in particular is to thank for doing his due diligence in researching Evita Peron while on a trip to Argentina and discovered through a radio broadcast just how important she was to the people of her nation.

Q: What happened to Evita after her death in 1952?A: She was embalmed and then put on display in Juan Peron's house for a time before her body disappeared. In 1971, it was revealed that she had been buried under a false name in Italy to protect her body after Juan and Eva's names and likenesses were banned in Argentina following his fall from power.
