FC Dallas Schedule

Fans of Major League Soccer know that FC Dallas are among the top teams in the league as far as both success and fan support. Soccer has been on the rise in the United States for the past few decades and the level of skill and fan enthusiasm in the MLS is evidence of just how far the sport has come in the country. The beautiful game still has a long way to go in the United States to catch up with the popularity it has achieved everywhere else in the world but those in the country who follow it are among the most dedicated and passionate fans in all of sports and nowhere is this more true than in Dallas.

FC Dallas is currently locked in a heated battle at the top of the standings in the Western Conference of the MLS, sitting just a few points behind the Seattle Sounders who currently hold the top spot in the conference. There are still three regular season home games for FC Dallas to score some big wins in hopes of moving up the standings before the playoffs. On September 24th the conference leading Seattle Sounders come to Toyota Stadium for a huge late season game that could not only help FC Dallas move up the standings but could also give the team a big lift and momentum heading into the postseason. On October 12th the LA Galaxy come to town in another big game against a team that sits just a few points ahead of FC Dallas in the conference standings. The final home game of the regular season will be on October 25th when the Portland Timbers come to town. This will be your last chance to cheer on FC Dallas and provide them with some momentum heading into the postseason and is sure to be a thrilling game.

FC Dallas Major League Soccer

FC Dallas plays in the MLS, or Major League Soccer, which is the premiere soccer league in the United States and Canada and is also a member of CONCACAF. Nineteen teams in the league compete during the regular season which begins each March hoping to earn a spot in the postseason. Each team plays thirty four regular season games with the regular season champion being awarded the Supporters' Shield. The top ten teams advance to the playoffs with the last two teams playing in the MLS Cup in December. The first season of the MLS was in 1996 with ten charter members of which the Columbus Crew was one. Plans for establishing the league began as far back as 1988 when U.S. Soccer made an agreement with FIFA to have plans to get a Division I professional soccer league in place in order to be allowed to host the 1994 World Cup. The league is granted a spot for three American teams in the CONCACAF Champions League while another team has the chance to qualify via the U.S. Open Cup. Year after year MLS gains more fans and it stands as one of the five major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada.

FC Dallas Rivalries

The biggest rival of FC Dallas is the Houston Dynamo. Each year FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo face off with the winner taking home a cannon trophy known as El Capitan. The Dynamo joined the MLS in 2005 and became the second team in Texas as well as the closest team to FC Dallas. The oldest rivals of FC Dallas is the Chicago Fire against whom they used to compete while both were members of the Central Division. The teams still face off against one another competing for the Brimstone Cup.

The Experience

There are few events as exciting as seeing one top notch soccer team compete at home against another. The players in the MLS have grown up playing the sport that they love and are out there s much to advance the popularity of the sport in the United States. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and gives birth to the most fervent and dedicated fans. One step into Toyota Stadium when FC Dallas is playing and you will understand what all of the fuss is about. Unrelenting action, otherworldly footwork, stunning slide tackles, and mind blowing, acrobatic saves by goalkeepers will have you seeing exactly why soccer is referred to as "the beautiful game." You will be chanting and singing along and barely even need to use your seat, as move after move will have you jumping up and cheering for the home team. By the time the referee blows the final whistle you will be anxiously awaiting the next opportunity to attend an FC Dallas game and will find yourself an MLS and soccer fan for life.
