Fifth Third Arena History
Fifth Third Arena is a multi-purpose athletic facility located in Cincinnati, OH that
serves as the home of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats basketball program. The arena was opened in 1989 and is located
in the Myrl H. Shoemaker Center on the University of Cincinnati campus. Fifth Third Arena originally shared the same name
of the center in which it is located, and was renamed Fifth Third Arena in 2005 for the Fifth Third Bank. The nickname used
by the locals for this venue it The Shoe. The Cincinnati Bearcats are a Division I basketball team that competes in the American
Athletic Conference. College basketball is one of the most popular sports in the United States of America and boasts fans

to do so as long as the Cincinnati basketball team calls this venue home. In 1994 Fifth Third Arena hosted NCAA Tournament

Cincinnati is also the location of a major athletic college in the University of Cincinnati. The Bearcats of Cincinnati boast
very successful football and basketball programs. Cincinnati also boasts a budding music scene and plenty of locations in
which to experience a theatrical production. Those that have never been to this great city may want to consider changing that
