building that currently houses The Fillmore was originally constructed in 1925 as the Francis Palms Building, a movie house
catering to the rapidly growing Detroit population and the even more rapidly growing popularity of the movie business. Famous
architect C. Howard Crane designed the building in a beautiful Renaissance Revival style, which can still be appreciated today.
After having its name changed multiple times throughout the span of nearly a century, the theater has grown into it's new
incarnation as The Fillmore after an acquisition by concert giant LiveNation in 2007. LiveNation immediately set to renovate
the building and restore The Fillmore to its former glory by fixing and recreating the iconic Italian Renaissance outer lobby
and rotunda, the grand foyer columns and proscenium, and the sweeping barrel vaulted ceiling of the three-story grand foyer.
Now this magnificent 2,200-person theater sparkles with the personality and charm it had back in the glory days. The Fillmore
theater is a fantastic addition to the burgeoning modern scene in Detroit, and along with theater and comedy venue Fox
