About Five Finger Death Punch

Five Finger Death Punch was original started in Las Vegas, Nevada, but was moved to Los Angeles, California. The formation of the band took place in 2005 and was initiated by Zoltan Bathory (bassist) and Jeremy Spencer (drummer). The name given to the band was taken from martial arts cinema. Audiences might be more familiar with the five point palm exploding heart technique that was used in Quentin Tarantino's film Kill Bill. The bassist Zoltan Bathory and the drummer Jeremy Spencer recruited Ivan Moody to be the vocalist. At the time, Ivan Moody was living in Denver, Colorado but made the move to Los Angeles to start immediately recording with the band.

Five Finger Death Punch Breakthrough

The band had its first debut album, The Way of the Fist, released by the close of 2006. The band recorded the album with Stevo Bruno and Mike Sarkisyan, mixed it with guitarist Logan Mader. The album was produced by Five Finger Death Punch, which was quite the feat. It took a bit of time, but the band was able to acquire a second guitarist, Caleb Bingham. Although, he was later replaced with Darrell Roberts. It was after the release of the first album that Five Finger Death Punch was asked to sign a record deal with Firm Music through its branch called "The Firm." Having signed with the label, Five Finger Death Punch released the EP, Pre-Emptive Strike, in 2007. It quickly made its way onto the Billboard 200 at number 199. Later, it was certified as gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band had finally got its break and set out on its first major tour to support Korn's Family Value's Tour, as well as the North American portion of the Korn's Bitch We Have A Problem Tour. The band's second studio album was called War Is the Answer, which was produced by Kevin Churko and mixed by Randy Staub. The album was quick to be a success and made it to the number 7 position on the Billboard 200. It has been certified gold by the recording Industry Association of America. Five Finger Death Punch toured around the United States before taking off on its Shock and Raw Tour of Europe.

Five Finger Death Punch has continued to make albums and tour the world since breaking into the international music scene and is showing no signs of stopping. Five Finger Death Punch Trivia

During an interview with Metal Insider, Zoltan Bathory talked about how to stay relevant in a digital age of music, "The delivery system is different, and the information you get today is one hundred times more than someone got 40 years ago. Bands can't disappear anymore for two years. By the time you come back, people are like 'Who? Did you know that numerous countries disappeared and the economy system collapsed while you were gone? Where were you?' 'We were in the studio, I didn't notice! What happened?'"
