Five for Fighting Background

Born Vladimir John Ondrasik III in Los Angeles, Ondrasik spent his childhood surrounded by music. He started to play the piano when he was very young, and picked up the guitar when he was a teenager. Ondrasik even had a brief fling with learning how to sing opera music, but he quickly realized that he would rather be a singer-songwriter instead, a decision of which all of his fans are grateful. Even though he had undeniable musical talent, Ondrasik also wanted to pursue higher education, and attended UCLA to study applied science and mathematics.

Knowing that he wanted to create a career in music, Ondrasik chose a stage name, "Five for Fighting", based on a hockey term because of his love for the sport. He released his very first album, Message for Albert, in 1997. His music made quite a splash on the indie music scene, and it gained the attention of several label executives, and before he knew it, he was signed to Columbia Records. His second album, America Town, made him a huge hit with singles like "Superman (It's Not Easy)" topping music charts. This song became even more popular after September 11, when it became the unofficial anthem for strength and rebuilding following the attack. Ondrasik performed the song in 2001 at The Concert for New York City.

Five for Fighting continued to sell millions of records worldwide from his initial explosion onto the music scene, and has remained a force in the adult contemporary scene for nearly 15 years. Since beginning his musical education when he was two years old, Ondrasik has come a long way, creating music that millions of fans around the world adore. Five for Fighting isn't planning on going away anytime soon, much to the joy of his fans. He continues to schedule performances around the country, and he is gearing up to bring his hit songs and soulful voice to a couple top-tier venues this coming fall. Make sure you are in the audience when Ondrasik performs hit smash hits and buy your tickets on StubHub today!
