Florida Gators Basketball Road Schedule
The Florida Gators are ready to chomp down on the competition this season
as they take the floor and take on some of the top teams in the SEC, as well as the rest of the country. The Gators always
have one of the best teams in the nation, and have developed into a real powerhouse of a program in recent memory. The Gators
play in the always competitive Southeast Conference, and while the SEC is known for its incredible football it is also home
to some of the top college hoops teams in the nation year in and year out. The road to the top of the SEC standings is one
that is always loaded with tough matchups, and that is certainly the case for the Gators yet again this season. This should
be a great season of Florida hoops, one filled with fantastic home matchups that fans of the Gators can enjoy in person in
The Gators will face a tough test when they face the LSU Tigers this year. The Tigers are always a fierce SEC
opponent, and while they're known more for their football program they're no slouches on the hardwood. The Tigers team will
be looking to tear into the Gators this year, but the Gators are sure to make it a game.
The Gators will have their
hands full when they face the Kentucky Wildcats. This could very well be the best matchup of the season in the SEC, as these
two teams are extremely talented. The Gators will have to slow down a slew of talented players to get the win. If they can,
it will be a fantastic road win to give the team some serious momentum.
Florida Gators History
Gators basketball program dated back to 1915 when the team first took the court to compete. Since then this program has developed
into one of the best in the nation, regularly fielding one of the best teams in the country on an annual basis. The Gators
have had a lot of memorable seasons over the years, and the team captured its first National Championship in 2006, led by
head coach Billy Donovan and the trio of Joakim Noah, Al Horford and Corey Brewer. These three players decided to return to
the following season despite major interest from the National Basketball Association and backed up their 2006 championship
run by winning the National Championship again in 2007. The Gators have been to the NCAA Tournament more than 15 times throughout
the rich history of this program, and are now regulars in the Big Dance. The Gators have been to the Elite Eight more than
five times and reached the Final Four on four occasions.
The Florida Gators basketball program is one of the best in
the country year in and year out, and that kind of consistency usually stems from consistent recruiting. The Gators have seen
some incredible players come through the program over the years, but perhaps none more memorable than the trio of stars that
helped the team win back-to-back National Championships in 2006 and 2007. Joakim Noah was the vocal leader of those teams,
and the center was an integral part of the title runs. Noah would go on to be selected in the lottery of the National Basketball
Association Draft, as did teammates Al Horford and Corey Brewer. Noah and Horford have developed into two of the best big
men in the pro game, especially on the defensive end, while Brewer has evolved into a reliable offensive option and a very
good perimeter defender.
Even though home games are an absolute must, it can also be just
as exciting to be there on the road when the Gators take to the court for an epic battle against a talented opponent. With
SEC battles tending to be loaded with superstars and fans all over the SEC known for their passion and enthusiasm, there is
nothing that tops big-time college basketball played at this level. From rim-rocking jams to smooth three-pointers and clutch
blocks that will have you jumping out of your seat, this is one of the very best spectator sports that you're ever going to
find, and it all comes together in a big way wherever and whenever the Florida Gators hit the court.
The Gators have been to the National Championship Game three times, winning the National Title twice.
What year did the team fall short in the big game?
The answer is 2000, but the team was able to prevail in 2006 and
2007 to win the National Championship.
