Each year, the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats football team and the Florida A&M University Rattlers football team
meet in a hard-fought contest called the Florida Classic. The 2010 Florida Classic ended with the Rattlers topping the Wildcats
38-27 in a game that drew 61,712 fans. The 2011 Florida Classic will feature another hard-fought match.
The rivalry between the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats and the Florida A&M University Rattlers dates back to 1925,
but the first official Florida Classic took place in 1978. Before it was held in Tampa, the Florida Classic took place in
Orlando. Now, the Florida Classic remains one of the best rivalries in the world of NCAA
football.
The Florida Classic has quite the home, because it is held at Florida
Citrus Bowl every year. The Florida Classic is just one of many memorable games held at the Florida Citrus Bowl every
year. It also hosts the Capital One Bowl, the Champs Sports Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game. It first opened in the 1930s
but it has been renovated multiple times since.
