Foghat were officially a group by 1971, and released their self-titled debut album the following year. The album
included tracks like "Trouble Trouble," "Maybellene," and a cover of "I Just Want to Make Love to You," which became a popular
hit at the time. The album reached #127 on the U.S. album charts. Foghat followed up their debut release with their sophomore
album known as "Rock and Roll," which made it to the #67 position on the charts and was eventually certified gold. Their next
album "Energized" was also eventually certified gold, and peaked at #34 on the charts. When "Fool For The City" was released
in 1975, the group finally had their first platinum record, and they enjoyed a great deal of airplay from one of their most
famous songs, "Slow Ride."
Foghot went on to release several more records, the most popular of which was "Foghat Live"
in 1977. The album sold over two million copies and was certified double platinum. Later hits by Foghat included "Stone Blue,"
"Drivin' Wheel," and "Third Time Lucky (The First Time I Was a Fool." Although Foghot's lineup has changed over the years
and some band members have passed away, they have continued to keep recording and bringing their music to fans all over. In
fact, these rockers recently released a new single called "The World of Rock n' Roll," and it appears there is no end in sight
for them. Now Foghat is returning for another tour, and fans far and wide will get to experience all of their favorite hits
live in concert.
Foghat's Breakthrough Album
Foghat began to build up a steady following after the release
of their debut album, which received a lot of airplay thanks to their cover of "I Just Want to Make Love to You." When their
1975 record "Fool For The City" was released, Foghat's fame was launched to a new level with their famous hit "Slow Ride."
The album went platinum and continued to enjoy steady sales even into the 80s. The success of these albums helped Foghat reach
a new audience via radio airplay, and they went on to release their best-selling record ever, "Foghat Live," which was certified
double platinum and peaked at #11 on the charts. Throughout the years, Foghat's lineup has changed, but their bluesy rock
tunes are still favorites for fans young and old.
How did Foghat come up with their name?
before Foghat completed their album, they still had not come up with a name yet. Guitarist and vocalist Dave Peverett suggested
the name "Foghat," which was a nonsensical word he had come up with while playing a word game with his brother. The name stuck,
and the rest is history!
With famous hits like "Drivin' Wheel," "I Just Want to Make Love
to You," and "Stone Blue," Foghat has remained a fixture on classic rock stations around the U.S. You've probably heard their
tunes on the radio since their debut, and these veteran rockers continue to record and tour as a band. Foghat is returning
once again to tour, and fans couldn't be more delighted. Whether you've been a fan of Foghat since their debut in the early
70s, or you just recently discovered their music, fans young and old will be thrilled to rock out all night with their favorite
tunes from Foghat. To experience the legendary rock band Foghat live in concert, be sure to visit StubHub today to get your
