About Forecastle Music Festival

The Forecastle Music Festival was started in 2002, and has since been held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, bringing attendees from all over who flock to get in on the great musical performances, art, and activism. It originally started as a small gathering of Louisville-based musicians who congregated in Tyler Park, but the festival quickly grew into a national attraction that now draws the likes of bands like the Avett Brothers, My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Widespread Panic, Wilco, Robert Plant, The Black Crowes, Band of Horses, Sleater-Kinney, and many more.

Each year, approximately 75,000 people descend upon the Forecastle Music Festival to check out the music, environmental workshops, prominent speakers, and amazing art showcases. This year's lineup is slated to include a number of amazing musical acts, like Outkast, Spoon, Twenty One Pilots, Gary Clark Jr., Local Natives, The Black Lips, St. Lucia, Mimosa, Benjamin Booker, Willie Watson, The Districts, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Jack White, and plenty of others to keep you and your friends entertained.

At the Forecastle Music Festival, you can see everything from mixed media, 2-D and 3-D, and unique installations. There are also a number of non-profits and environmental groups, like the Sierra Club, Citizens Action Coalition, Dogwood Alliance, Community Farm Alliance, Peak Oil, Student Environmental Action Coalition, Earthsave International, Blue Earth Alliance, and many more.

Forecastle Music Festival Breakthrough

Since its debut, the Forecastle Music Festival began to generate support from the local community and surrounding neighborhoods. However, by 2005, the festival had generated so much attention, the organizers had to move it to a bigger space. The festival was thus moved from Tyler Park to Cherokee Park, which accommodated more musical acts, more activities, and more crowds yet again. The festival was moved again to the Mellwood Art Center. At its current location at the Waterfront Park in Louisville, the festival is well equipped to handle tens of thousands of eager fans who come each year. When the Forecastle Music Festival rolls around again this summer, you don't want to get left in the dust. Be sure to beat the crowds and head over to StubHub to get your tickets before they're all sold out. You don't want to miss this event!
