About Foxy Shazam
Hailing from Ohio, Foxy Shazam officially formed in
2004, as a music project of young band founders Eric Nally, Loren Turner, Sky White, Daisy Caplan, Alex Nauth, and Aaron McVeigh.
The band would go through numerous shakeups over the years, eventually landing on the current lineup that includes original
members Nally, Turner, Caplan, Nauth, and McVeigh in addition to Schuyler White.
The band would self-release their first
album in 2005 and tour extensively, picking up a cult local following as their fan base grew exponentially through crowd-sourced
marketing. They would tour with undying passion, and this combined with their ever growing fanbase eventually convinced Ferred
Music to sign the band in time for their second full length release in 2008. The buzz would continue to build around Foxy
Shazam, obtaining mentions from Alternative Press Magazine and Spin magazine as an up and coming rock sensation (on the 100
Bands You Need to Know list and Ten Bands You Need To Know list, respectively).
Foxy Shazam would continue to make its
impact on the music scene, with members collaborating with Meat Loaf and the band getting a prime slot at Chicago's Lollapalooza
festival. The band would do the rounds on television as well, from local broadcasting to networks such as Fuel and all the
way to the biggest television of event of the year - the Super Bowl.
Momentum would continue to build with the release
of their fourth album in 2012, setting them up for a tour with fellow glam rockers The Darkness. They would follow that up
with their very own cross country tour, before heading back to the studio and recording their fifth full length album. Hype
is continuing to grow about Foxy Shazam, and so far they're showing no signs of slowing down or looking back.
Foxy Shazam's first major hit would come with their second album, distributed under Ferret Music, titled Introducing
Foxy Shazam. The 2008 album would drop on the alt music scene with a bang, carried by the hit single and crowd favorite "A
Dangerous Man". The album would gain moderate commercial success and critical recognition, with AllMusic magazine giving the
album four stars.
The band's follow-up, titled Foxy Shazam, would live up to its huge expectations commercially and
critically. With the hit singles "Wanna Be Angel", "Unstoppable", and "Oh Lord", Foxy Shazam would garner near perfect scores
from critics across the board, including a perfect 10/10 from Outburn Magazine. The album would catapult to the #2 position
on BillBoard's Top Heatseekers chart, cementing the band as one of the hottest commodities in the alt rock genre.
band's fourth album The Church of Rock and Roll would release in 2012, and its singles "I Like It" and "Holy Touch" both signaled
the band's growing maturity in song and lyric writing. Still pioneering their own unique style and sound, The Church of Rock
and Roll breached the top 40 across multiple BillBoard charts and quickly became a fan favorite album.
Shazam has received much acclaim in musical circles, being lauded as one of the best rock bands of all time and compared to
some of the biggest acts of all time - including Queen, Meat Loaf, and The Strokes.
The band's name was falsely attributed
as a popular phrase used by students during Eric Nally's high school days. Five years after the myth caught on, the band would
come clean and admit the name was just an interesting sounding creation.
