Frank Turner began his career in music at an early age. He began playing instruments as a child, and by the time he was in high school, he was already playing with a band that enjoyed moderate success. After that band split, and another bit the dust, Turner decided he wanted to continue on tour, playing his music, but he didn't want to deal with having to put together a band once more. He recorded his first EP, Campfire Punkrock that was released in May of 2006, and was backed by the Oxford band Dive Dive, whom he'd met on tour. The band members who made up Dive Dive: Tarrant Anderson, Ben Lloyd, and Nigel Powell, would eventually become Turner's backing band and later The Sleeping Souls. Turner started to gain traction in the music business and gained a loyal following. His music was being played on BBC Radio 1, and he was back on tour, playing the music he loved with a band that supported him.
