French Montana Background
best known by his stage name French Montana, was born and raised in Morocco, right outside of Casablanca. Even while a child,
rapping was one of Kharbouch's primary hobbies, along with playing football. When he was 13, his family moved to the South
Bronx in New York, where he learned English and started to become more serious about his music career. In 2002, Kharbouch
teamed up with his friend, Cokeboy Los, to create a series of mixtapes called "Cocaine City" under the rap name "Young French".
The series quickly became a huge hit, emerging as one of the top-selling street CDs around and launching French into the underground
Eventually, French Montana had gained so much recognition in the hip hop community that he signed with
both Interscope Records and P. Diddy's Bad Boy Records. In 2012, French Montana joined the XXL Freshman Class, which features
the hottest up and coming new artists in hip hop. In addition to French, the 2012 Freshman Class included artists like Iggy
Azalea, Macklemore, Kid Ink, and Future. After releasing a few popular mixtapes, French Montana released his debut album,
Excuse My French, in 2013. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart, making it a smash success right out
