Fresno State Bulldogs Basketball Schedule
When the college basketball season gets underway there are few places
as exciting to be as Save Mart Center, home of the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are a recent addition to the Mountain
West Conference which is home to some of the hottest teams in the country but they have wasted no time making their presence
felt by scoring some big upset wins. Last season Fresno State went 9-9 in the conference, which is nothing to be ashamed of,
but they will be looking to improve upon that record in the 2014-2015 season in hopes of making the NCAA Tournament for the
first time in well over a decade. It is always a daunting task for a team to successfully navigate their way through a tough
Mountain West schedule but the Bulldogs appear to have the talent and motivation to do just that in the 2014-2015 season.
Fresno State Bulldogs will yet again be going up against all of the best teams the Mountain West has to offer including the
UNLV Running Rebels, the New Mexico Lobos, the San Diego State Aztecs, and the Nevada Wolfpack. This will be Fresno State's
third season as a member of the Mountain West Conference and they are ready to start making their way to the top of the conference
standings to take their place among the Mountain West elite. Fresno State appears to be poised to accomplish great things
this season and you will want to be there at Save Mart Center to cheer them on to some big wins. Tickets to see the Bulldogs
play in Fresno always sell quickly so be sure to get yours from StubHub as soon as possible.
Fresno State Bulldogs
Fresno State joined the Mountain West Conference for the 2012-2013 season but had been members of
the Western Athletic Conference from 1992 through 2012 and were members of the Big West prior to that. They have won five
conference regular season titles, three in the WAC and two in the Big West, along with four conference tournament championships,
one coming in the WAC and three in the Big West. The Bulldogs have already realized that life in the Mountain West will be
different from the WAC but they have adjusted quickly and are well on their way to ascending to the top of the conference
rankings. Now in his second year, head coach Rodney Terry has installed his system and the Bulldogs are beginning to respond.
By the time conference play comes around you can expect that the Bulldogs will really be rolling and will be ready to prove
to the rest of the Mountain West that they are legitimate contenders for the conference title and will be for years to come.
This is an exciting time to be a Fresno State Bulldogs fan and every die hard fan will want to be sure to be at Save Mart
Center to cheer on the Bulldogs right from the start.
Fresno State Bulldogs Basketball Conference
years the Mountain West Conference has emerged as a true national powerhouse. There are now eleven members of the Mountain
West Conference: San Diego State, UNLV, Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Nevada, Fresno State, Wyoming,
Utah State, and San Jose State. Previous members have included TCU, Utah, and BYU. Of the current members, Utah State leads
the way with twenty NCAA Tournament appearances. However, so far all of their appearances have come before joining the Mountain
West. UNLV and Wyoming, two charter members of the Mountain West, are next in line with 19 and 14 respectively. UNLV and Wyoming
are also the only two members of the conference to win a National Championship, with UNLV winning in 1990 and Wyoming winning
all the way back in 1943. Lately it has been San Diego State, New Mexico, and UNLV who have dominated the conference on the
basketball court with SDSU tearing up the national rankings during the 2013-2014 season.
a top college basketball game is one of the best experiences to be found in sports. Many of the top student athletes in the
world take the court in college basketball, when this is combined with some of the most passionate fans in all of sports there
is an atmosphere in the arena that cannot be found anywhere else. When you set foot into Save Mart Center for a Fresno State
Bulldogs home basketball game this will all be clear. As the teams set up for opening jump ball the fans get on their feet
and loudly cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites. The game continues full of end to end action, big time shots,
and clutch defensive stops. All of a sudden the clock is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped up
in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with each trip down the floor and each time a player from your favorite
team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball tickles the twine. This continues until the final buzzer when the
Bulldogs' side erupts after another big win and their fans exit of the arena in jubilation. The minute you leave Save Mart
Center you will want to begin your next trip back to help cheer on the Bulldogs.
Fresno State has
made it to the NCAA Tournament five times and have advanced out of the first round twice, the first time in 1982 when they
advanced to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to Georgetown, and the second time in 2001 when they beat Cal in the first round
before falling to the Michigan State Spartans in the second round. The Bulldogs have participated in the NIT nine times and
won the tournament in 1983. In 2014 the Fresno State Bulldogs participated in the CBI Tournament and advanced all the way
to the best of three finals series against Siena. After losing the first game of the series the Bulldogs won the second only
to lose the third and finish as the tournament's runners-up.
