boasts one of the most proud traditions in all of college hockey. The 1970 Big Red team went 29-0 en route to a National Championship
and are the only NCAA men's hockey team to have ever finished a season undefeated. They play in the ECAC and the Ivy League
and have won the ECAC Tournament Championship 12 times, more than any other school, and won the Ivy League championship 21
times which trails only Harvard who have won 23. Penn State has a long hockey history that has seen the team compete at both
the NCAA Division I level as well as at the club level. The team played a few games in 1909-1910 but was not officially recognized
by the school until 1938. The modern era of Nittany Lions hockey dates back to 1971 when the school competed at the club level.
These days the Nittany Lions are part of the Big Ten Conference, which formed a hockey conference before the 2013-2014 season
by combining Big Ten schools that were competing in the CCHA and the WCHA for hockey.
