Future Islands tickets

Future Islands tickets - Future Islands tour dates

Future Islands Schedule

Synthpop band, Future Islands, carries a sound that has been billed as "terse yet passionate music wrought from a stripped back palette." Their sound is often likened to bands such as Santa Dads, OCDJ, Dan Deacon, Adventure, Weekends, Blood Baby and more.

One thing is still for certain, Future Islands produces a sound all their own that is worth clearing your calendar for.

Future Islands has played some high-profile venues since their inception in 2006, which have included places like Webster Hall in New York, New York; Boston City Hall Plaza in Boston, Massachusetts; and the 930 Club in Washington, D.C. To discover and experience their music on your own, make sure you check back often on StubHub to see if their scheduled to play at a club near you. Additionally, StubHub offers you the option to sign up for email alerts as well. So what are you waiting for? Grab your Future Islands tickets now!

Future Islands Background

Future Islands took shape while the members studied at East Carolina University's art program together. Frontman Samuel T. Herring was joined by original members of the group, J. Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion, Adam Beeby and Kymia Nawabi. The bandmates strengthened their brand name around campus, playing as Art Lord & the Self-Portraits. They went their separate ways in 2006, but Cashion, Herring and Welmers forged ahead, choosing the name of Future Islands. They also recruited Erick Murillo (bassist) along the way. They put out a handful of cassettes, splits and CD-Rs prior to Murillo's exit. He did, however, continue to collaborate with the band for a couple of EPs and full-length efforts. The band dropped a few tracks in 2012 but remained low-key until 2013. It was then that they revealed they had inked a deal with 4AD. Their debut album under the label, Singles (2014), turned out to be an ideal representation of the synth pop genre. The band played one of the album's gems, "Seasons (Waiting on You)," live on Late Night with David Letterman. Letterman was actually left speechless and mesmerized by the tune.

Future Islands Albums

Future Islands' albums include: Wave Like Home (2008); In Evening Air (2010); On the Water (2011); and Singles (2014).

They haven't been around that long, but Future Islands has already released these remarkable albums that resonated with fans and critics alike all over the country and world. In 2008, it was Wave Like Home that really stepped it up for Future Islands, with several hit singles that helped them to develop a solid reputation. Then it was In Evening Air in 2010, bringing their music to a whole different level as Future Islands kept expanding their eclectic sound. In 2011 they were at it again with On the Water, building out their playlist and making it just about impossible to think of what song is going to come up next whenever Future Islands takes to the stage. As soon as you're there, you'll be glad that you're not sitting anywhere else.
