Even before the members of Future Islands took on their current moniker, they had already been playing together for years as a different band. Eventually, they decided on the name Future Islands in 2006 and began releasing music. It didn't take them long to develop quite the following, which explains the popularity of their tour dates.
Although they hail from Baltimore, Maryland, Future Islands actually got their start when the members were in college in Greenville, North Carolina. The band didn't wait long before releasing their music, and fans started flocking from all over to catch them live in concert. Every single release from the band brings more concert dates for fans to enjoy.
The band's following has expanded beyond their home state and to the rest of the country. A tour of Europe made sure that they also have a following overseas, which has only grown since.
