Galen Center History
USC's Galen Center is a state of the art college basketball venue which has functioned as
the home of the Trojans' basketball and volleyball teams since it first opened in 2006. The venue was built to give the Trojans
a permanent home after spending time playing in the Pan-Pacific Auditorium, the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, and the
Shrine Auditorium, among other places. The basketball team immediately saw an upswing in recruiting following the opening
of Galen Center and all of the USC teams who call the arena home have benefited in the years since it first opened. When the
USC Trojans basketball team takes the floor at Galen Arena and the crowd starts to go wild there is hardly a better place
in the country to catch a college basketball game.
Galen Center Events
While it is best known as the home
of the USC Trojans basketball teams, the Galen Center is also home to the university's volleyball teams and a wide variety
of other events. The venue hosts the graduation ceremonies for local high schools, CIF championships, Nickelodeon's Kid Choice
Awards, the television competition show The X Factor, the League of Legends championships, and much more. There is always
a lot going on in Los Angeles but some of the most exciting events in the city take place at Galen Center.
As the city in California with the highest population, and the second most populous city in the
United States, you can be sure that there are plenty of reasons to visit Los Angeles. You would be remiss not to visit the
beach whether it is Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Malibu, or any of the other nearby beaches. A trip to Hollywood Boulevard
will allow you to go along the Walk of Fame and see the names some of your favorite stars of film, television, radio, and
music before you stop by Grauman's Chinese Theater and see where the biggest stars in the history of showbiz have put their
hand prints in the cement. If you are looking for something more high brow head over to the J. Paul Getty Museum and see some
of the world famous art hanging from its walls.

10,000 through its doors for USC home games and when you are inside the arena surrounded by thousands of other rabid USC fans
you will see why it gives the Trojans such a distinct home court advantages. Having opened less than a decade ago the Galen
Center is a state of the art basketball arena that offers some of the best amenities in all of NCAA basketball. Whether you
are attending a game, a graduation, or any of the myriad other events held at Galen Center you are sure to have an unbelievable
Plans for an on-campus indoor arena had been floating around the USC campus for more than
a century when finally, thanks to a generous donation from local banker Louis Galen and his wife Helen, funding was completed
and plans to build the venue finally moved forward.
