Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Gary Clark Jr. started playing guitar at the age of 12. He played small gigs throughout
his teen years, until the pivotal moment in his life when he met Clifford Antone, owner of the Austin music club, Antone's.
Antone's was well known for serving as the springboard for Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan. Soon after meeting Antone, Clark
began to jam with a variety of musical icons, including Jimmie Vaughan. Vaughan and others took Clark under their wing to
guide him along his musical path, orchestrating his rising star status on Austin's music scene. Clark's music showcases how
the blues have carved virtually every music genre over the past century, from country to hip-hop.
Since being discovered, Gary Clark Jr. has been making lasting imprints wherever he goes. His hometown of Austin, Texas,
even dedicated an official day to him on May 3, 2001. Clark was only 17 at the time. Clark has additionally garnered the Austin
Music Award for Best Blues and Electric Guitarist on three separate occasions. And SPIN magazine named Clark the Breakout
