When the U.K. was turning out punk bands left and right, young Gary Numan was discovering synthesizers. Combining guitars
and eerie synths, Numan made a name for himself as one of the most distinctive New Wave acts of the early '80s. He adopted
a bizarre, robotic persona that was perfectly suited to the futuristic sounds he was making.
Gary Webb was an impressionable lad with a penchant for science fiction stories before getting involved in the punk scene.
He would eventually form a band called Tubeway Army, releasing a self-titled record and the creepy concept album Replicas.
It was on this later record that he would begin establishing the identity of Gary Numan, a pale-faced, slickly dressed replicant
who played awesome synth-rock.
Gary Numan tickets are now available for an artist who reached the height of his fame
in the '80s, but continues to be a closely followed cult artist. After going through a quiet period, Gary Numan was heavily
namedropped in the '90s by artists influenced by him, like Trent Reznor. He developed a dark, industrial style of music that
he still performs today. Get concert tickets to see him live!
