About Gavin DeGraw
A native of the
great state of New York, Gavin would get a perfect mix of urban and rustic as he spent his formative years in South Fallsburg,
nestled amongst the rural communities of the Catskills. He would be heavily influenced by his family in his choice to make
a career in music, specifically from his older brother and fellow well known performer Joey DeGraw. Gavin would spend the
early and middle years of his life laying the foundation for what would eventually be one of the most monumental music careers
in existence today.
Taking a nontraditional path to success, Gavin's first big breakout would come in television, writing
a track for Warner Bros.' television division that would eventually be featured as the soundtrack to the mega hit young adult
drama One Tree Hill. The track, "I Don't Want to Be", would become ingrained into young America's psyche, with Gavin along
with it. Reaching a monumentally diverse and geographically large fan base, Gavin became an overnight sensation and remains
one of the forefront singer and songwriters on the modern music scene.
Gavin's liftoff would come in 2003, hot off the
success of "I Don't Want to Be", with the release of his debut album that became a commercial and critical juggernaut. His
recording career would maintain a constant stream of hit singles, EPs, and albums for the rest of the 00s, with the name 'DeGraw'
sitting on top or near the top of various music charts for the majority of the decade. He would expand his musical base by
recording and releasing online, along with free singles and releases for his loyal fans, with a constant fresh sound that
evolved and matured as Gavin's musical career continue to grow to great and great proportions. He would collaborate with some
of the hottest producers in the industry, including Butch Walker and Ron Aniello, and by 2011 he was a core artist on major
label RCA Records.
Gavin began a partnership with fellow singer songwriter Colbie Caillat, producing a christmas album
that the two co wrote that would feature a track on 2013 major motion picture Safe Haven. Aside from his near constant time
spent in the studio producing new music, Gavin would also find the time to show his appreciation to his fanbase with a near
constant tour schedule, including a cross country tour with "Drops of Jupiter" mega sensations Train.
Gavin's career would off to a running start with Chariot, which would gain platinum certification while released
under J records, the label that Gavin would stick with for most of the first half of his career. The album was a major hit
worldwide, with a chart topping appearance in Denmark as well as a #56 showing on the US Billboard 200. The album would fall
under the production tutelage of Mark Endert and James Diener, and receive widespread acclaim from critics with a four star
rating from Common Sense Media. The album included his intro mega hit "I Don't Want to Be", as well as timeless singles "Chariot",
"Follow Through", "Just Friends", and "Meaning".
One cannot speak of the Gavin DeGraw discography without mention of
his fourth full length release, Sweeter, which would drop in 2011 and climb to the number eight position on the Billboard
200, his second best charting album for a domestic audience. His debut release on RCA Records, Sweeter would feature a more
mature sound from Gavin as demonstrated by all three singles from the record, including "Not Over You", "Sweeter", and "Soldier".
most recent release, Make a Move, would live up to all expectations with top twenty showings on the US Billboard 200, Canadian,
and Netherlands music charts. The album would feature a pell mell of production credits, with help from such legendary artists
as Butch Walker and Kevin Rudolf. The album was carried by two singles, "Make a Move" and "Best I Ever Had", with the latter
track being covered on season five of popular music reality TV series The Voice.
Gavin has become
