George Mason Patriots Basketball History
The Patriots have a long and
proud history of college basketball but it was not until 2006 when George Mason made a Cinderella run to the Final Four that
the program really stole the hearts of college hoops fans across the country. Altogether the Patriots have been to the NCAA
Tournament six times, most recently in 2011. last season George Mason lost in the opening round of the A-10 championship to
Fordham after finishing second to last in the conference and all returning players are hoping to help turn things around this

within the conference including the cross-town rivalry between La Salle and Saint Joe's who are both former Big 5 members,
the in-state rivalry between VCU and Richmond, and the "Battle of the Rams" between Rhode Island and Fordham. With the recent
additions of teams like Davidson, Virginia Commonwealth, and Saint Louis look for new rivalries to develop within the conference
