George Thorogood Background
George Thorogood grew up on
the East Coast in Wilmington, Delaware. It was clear from an early age that Thorogood would become a highly skilled musician,
as his love and talent for music was evident to everyone around him. After attending a John P. Hammond concert, Thorogood
decided that he too would become a professional solo acoustic artist, and this decision jump-started his foray into the music
world. Although he had set his mind to becoming a solo performer, he soon decided to form a band, the Delaware Destroyers
(you may recognize them as just the Destroyers). The band started gaining attention for their cool and incredibly infectious
sound, which blended Chicago blues with rock and roll. The Destroyers started performing shows all over the East Coast, garnering
new fans whenever they stepped on stage with their fun and captivating live sets. As the band started releasing new music,
they became an even bigger sensation in the rock world.
In 1981, The Rolling Stones invited George Thorogood to tour
with them as an opening act. This massive nationwide tour gave Thorogood priceless exposure and helped launch a decade of
phenomenal success. Soon after, he scored a performing slot on Saturday Night Live, and in 1982 he signed with EMI America
Records. Several of his songs became instant classics, such as "Bad to the Bone", which has been featured in films and television
series like Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Miami Vice, Problem Child, Christine, and more. While this may be Thorogood's best
known song, it certainly isn't the only classic blues rock hit he's churned out over the years. There is a reason why this
acclaimed and beloved blues rocker continuously packs the venues wherever he performs – he's a knockout live performer.
So when George Thorogood makes his way to a concert venue near you in the upcoming months, make sure that you and your friends
are in the audience to rock out to hits like "Bad to the Bone" and "I Drink Alone". Whether Thorogood is performing cover
songs of classic rock hits or performing his own original tunes, you can bet that he will blow you away with his masterful
guitar skills and on-stage charisma! Grab your George Thorogood tickets on StubHub before they're all gone!
