Georgia State Panthers Basketball History
The Georgia State Panthers really came
to prominence when former Maryland head coach Lefty Dreisell took over the program. He came to the school prior to the 1997-1998
season and coached the Panthers for six seasons. This really helped put Panthers basketball on the map and since then Georgia
State has emerged as one of the best teams in the Sun Belt Conference. Last season they won the regular season but missed
out on an NCAA Tournament bid after being unable to win the conference tournament. You can be sure that the 2014-2015 Panthers
team will be hungrier than ever to make it back to the Tournament.
Attending a top college
basketball game is one of the best experiences to be found in sports. Many of the best student athletes in the world take
the court in college basketball, when this is combined with some of the most passionate fans in all of sports there is an
atmosphere in the arena that cannot be found anywhere else. When you set foot in the Georgia State Sports Arena for a Georgia
State Panthers home basketball game this will all be clear. As the teams set up for opening jump ball the fans get on their
feet and loudly cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites. The game continues full of end to end action, big time
shots, and clutch defensive stops. All of a sudden the clock is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped
up in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with each trip down the floor and each time a player from your favorite
team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball tickles the twine. This continues until the final buzzer when the
Georgia State Panthers' side erupts after another big win and their fans exit of the arena in jubilation. The moment you leave
the Georgia State Sports Arena you will want to immediately start planning your next trip to the venue to cheer on the Panthers.
