About GHOST The Musical Orlando

Ghost The Musical is the stage adaptation of the famous 1990 film hit, which originally starred Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze, and Whoopi Goldberg. The story-line follows Sam and Molly, who are attacked when they are walking back to their apartment. As Sam passes away, his becomes trapped between the physical and spiritual realms. As the story progresses, Sam knows that Molly is in danger, but there is nothing he can do to protect her. He enlists the help of a spiritual medium by the name of Oda Mae Brown to help protect Molly.

Ghost The Musical first premiered at the Manchester Opera House in March of 2011, and thereafter began its West End debut later that summer. It made its official Broadway debut in April 2012. The Manchester production was directed by Tony Award-winning director Matthew Warchus, with set and costume design by Rob Howell, and choreography by Ashley Wallen. Cast members at the time included Caissie Levy as Molly Jensen, Richard Fleeshman as Sam Wheat, Sharon D. Clarke as Oda Mae Brown, and Andrew Langtree as Carl Bruner.

The London production of Ghost The Musical went on to receive a host of Laurence Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Musical, Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical, Best Set Design, and Best Lighting Design. The original stars Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy returned to their roles, with actors Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Bryce Pinkham joining the cast for the roles of Oda Mae and Carl. Randolph was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical.

The Broadway production was nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical, Best Scenic Design, and Best Lighting Design. It ended up taking home a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design, thanks to Jon Driscoll, Rob Howell, and Paul Kieve.
