About the Band
The Gipsy Kings formed in the late Seventies in France but were children
of Spanish immigrants and this upbringing certainly influenced the musical style of the band. Two brothers and their cousins
decided to form the band in 1978 and they began traveling around France playing at festivals, weddings, and the like and their
constant traveling gave the family the idea of calling themselves the Gipsy Kings. They spent a lot of time only playing in
France until the mid-Eighties when they met up with Claud Martinez who agreed to produce the band and saw the potential for
worldwide success. As they continued recording and touring internationally, the Gipsy Kings proved the words of Martinez to
be prophetic. The Gipsy Kngs have released thirteen studio albums over the course of their career, most recently 2013's Savor
Flamenco which was their first album in six years.
In 1988 the Gipsy Kings released their
third, self titled, album which would prove to be their biggest hit to date. The album saw release in the United States the
following year, where it spent forty weeks on the U.S. charts and was the only Spanish speaking language album of the year
to do so. With success in the United States, the Gipsy Kings were asked by Disney to record a cover of I've Got No Strings
for the album Mad about the Mouse which helped open up the band to an even wider audience. Soon after that they recorded another
cover song, this time of the Eagles' Hotel Calfironia. Their version of the song soon became ubiquitous in American culture
and was featured in Entourage, and the Big Lebowski.
If you are looking to see a true world
class musical act and master of their craft, look no further than international superstars Gipsy Kings. The world renowned
rumba flamenca/pop group has spent decades perfecting their sound as well as finding new avenues of musical expression to

The band initially formed under the name Los Reyes, but changed their name to Gipsy
Kings after they spent so much of their time early in their career traveling all over France. In 2010 Gipsy Kings recorded
a Spanish version of the song You've Got a Friend in Me, titled Hay un Amigo en Mi, for the hit movie Toy Story 3. They have
recorded several notable cover songs including a cover of Bob Marley's One Love, which they recorded with Ziggy Marley, and
Long Train Running by the Doobie Brothers, which they recorded with Bananarama. In addition to the numerous studio albums
Gipsy Kings have recorded, they have also released five live DVDs, most recently 2005's Live at the Kenwood House of London.
