Formed in 1997, Goatwhore is an American blackened death metal from New Orleans, Louisiana. The group was the brainchild of singer/guitarist Sammy Duet, who was looking to create something special following the breakup of his previous band, Acid Bath. Rounding out the rest of the band are members Louis Ben Falgoust II (Solient Green singer), Ben Stout (guitarist), Patrick Bruders (bassist), and Zak Nolan (drummer). The band followed up their debut EP, Serenades to the Tides of Blood with their proper debut LP, The Eclipse of Ages into Black, in early 2000. In 20023, they released Funeral Dirge for the Rotting Sun, and then hoped over to Metal Blade for the fall release of 2006's A Haunting Curse. By 2009, Goatwhore had released their fourth album, Carving out the Eyes of God, Three years later, their fifth album Blood for the Master (2012), was released to widespread critical acclaim.
