        Carole Shorenstein Hays and James Nederlander are part owners of the Golden Gate Theatre, as well as two other famous Bay Area theatres, the Curran Theatre and the Orpheum Theatre. It was originally built in the early 1920s as a vaudeville house, and then was later turned into a movie palace. It has had some ups and downs as far as ticket sales go, and for a while in the 1970s it fell into disrepair. Nowadays, this fully resorted and renovated venue showcases theatre, ballet, comedy shows and opera.
