Good Charlotte came together when twin brothers Joel and Benji Madden form Maryland decided to start a band with high school friends after seeing the Beastie Boys together. Good Charlotte quickly made a name for them selves in the D.C. area and in 2000 released their self-titled debut album. Joel and Benji got spots as MTV VJs and promoted the band.
