Granger Smith Background
Dallas, Texas, native, country music singer and songwriter Granger Smith made his rounds on the club circuit when he was just
14 years old. He kicked off his professional career when he was 19 while studying at Texas A&M.
"When I knew I wanted
to be a singer-songwriter for a living, I never set out to be totally grassroots," Smith said. "Probably no one does. At that
time, there was a system and most people followed that system. Write a song, book a studio and musicians, play a showcase,
get a record deal, get famous, request all green M&Ms."
He cut his debut album, Waiting on Forever, as a college
freshman. A few years later, he inked a publishing and writing contract with EMI Music Publishing. He left the university
behind in his junior year and headed for Music City. He earned his musical chops by playing area honky tonks and bars while
getting lessons in writing and recording. He independently issued his sophomore album, Memory RD, in 2005. Pockets of Pesos
dropped in 2005 as well. And, Smith achieved a rather impressive feat, also in 2005, when he graduated from Texas A&M.
A year later, Livin' Like a Lonestar arrived. By the time We Bleed Maroon came out in 2007, Smith had returned to the Lone
Star State, becoming a music hero. In 2009, Don't Listen to the Radio was issued, followed by the release of Live at the Chicken:
11-20-11 and Poets & Prisoners in 2012. In 2013, Smith came out with Dirt Road Driveway, which scored the No. 1 spot on
the iTunes Country Chart. Dirt Road Driveway also yielded "The Country Boy Song" and "Country Boy Love," which were credited
to Earl Dibbles Jr., Smith's alter ego.
Today, you can find Granger Smith on the road doing what he does best... singing
and entertaining audiences with his unique brand of country music.
