Grant Cutler began his professional career when he relocated from South Dakota to Minneapolis in 2001. He began headlining the landmark First Avenue venue and performed in dozens of famous local venues, including the Walker Art Center. He has contributed to several bands and musical groups, including becoming the front-man for bands Lookbook and Grant Cutler and the Gorgeous Lords. Lookbook received the City Pages' Best New Band award in 2009 and the Gorgeous Lords were named First Avenue's Best New Band in 2010. With these bands, Cutler has toured all over the world, playing his compositions for the masses. He's been featured at big name national festivals like SXSW and CMJ, and has composed scores for films including the feature Stuck Between Stations, which was an official selection of the Tribeca Film Festival in 2011. Cutler has also lent his musical talents to collaborations with Jeremy Messersmith and Dave King, and was an integral part of the Zoo Animal's widely-acclaimed release Departure that was released in 2012. That same year, Cutler's LP 2012, was released by Innova. It featured atmospheric analog recordings and tape manipulation. Cutler is a musical chameleon, changing to fit the band or the project he's working on, without losing his distinct style. He is currently working on multiple ventures including a two-piece performance project with vocals by Aby Wolf, commercial compositions, and performing for audiences with his generative sound and visuals.
