The Greek Theatre in Berkeley first opened more than one hundred years ago, in 1903, on the campus of U.C. Berkeley and has been home to countless legendary performances over the years. Officially known as the William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre, the venue is designed based on the Epidarius theater of ancient Greece and was the first building on campus designed by John Galen Howard. The Greek Theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and continues to be home to many of the biggest and best events in the Berkeley area.
