Greg Brown was born in Fairfield, Iowa in
1964. He hails from a musical family, as several of his family members played instruments. Born with the musical gene, Brown
began playing music at a young age and self-released his first album, 44 & 66, in 1980. The album was later re-rereleased
by Red House Records. Brown released his second effort, The Iowa Waltz, in 1981, also on his own. Like his first record, it
would be re-released by a label.
Brown has gone on to release two dozen albums, an incredible accomplishment for any
musician. He's show his appreciation of poetry with his 1986 effort Songs of Innocence and Experience. The album is based
on poems written by famed poet William Blake. Brown has played in a number of benefit concerts and comes through as a conscientious
artist with a real depth to both the music and the man himself. He boasts a dedicated fan base that appreciates his length
discography and devotion to his craft,
Greg Brown's breakthrough can be traced to 1989, when
he won an Indie Award from the National Association of Independent Record Distributors for his album One Big Town. The National
