This Dayton, Ohio-based band has been tearing up the charts since the late 1980s. They began their career as a
bar band, performing in local pubs and bars, still holding day jobs. But as the band became solely-focused on their music,
band founder, Robert Pollard, moved the band to the studio. They began recording their first project with their own money.
They released their first four albums on their own dime. It wasn't long before fans and record executives took notice. The
band has survived a lot of years, including personnel changes. But, today, they are back together and stronger than ever,
ready to give their adoring fans what they want most—to see them live on stage.
Guided by Voices is currently

Half-Smiles of the Decomposed would be their last project together. He said that because he was perfectly satisfied with this

Austin City Limits in 2004 and made their last television appearance in December of 2004 on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
About the Artist
Guided by Voices was formed in 1985 in Dayton, Ohio by Robert Pollard. Their first album, Devil
Between My Toes, was released in 1987 on their own label, G Records. They would release another album, "Sandbox," that same
year on Halo Records. They went on to release three more albums independently, mostly in their hometown. They found a wider
audience after the release of their album Propeller in 1992. Their songs became popular on the college radio circuit, along
with bands like R.E.M. and Sonic Youth. The band began to gain an underground following, and in 1995, they released their
debut album, Alien Lanes, to favorable reviews. The album was a mainstream success, getting airplay on MTV and praise in Rolling
Stone. They also contributed the song "Sensational Gravity Boy" to the album Red Hot + Bothered during that time to benefit
After signing with the big-name label, Capitol Records, the band released their album, Do the Collapse.
The album spawned a tour that took them through the end of the 90s and into the 2000s. The band was known for the lengthy

concert, and fans couldn't get enough of it. They flocked to stadiums and concert venues around the country, giving them top-dog
status in the world of alternative music.
They continued to have success throughout the next few years, gaining fans
both as a group and in their solo work. And even though they were apart for several years, they are back and better than ever.
