Harry Connick Jr. was born in New Orleans on September 11, 1967 and started out playing the keyboard when he was three. By the time he was six, he gave a public performance and when Connick was ten he recorded with a local jazz band. He made his way to Hunter College and the Manhattan School of Music which helped Connick get signed by Columbia Records.
