though Hellyeah didn't form until 2006, its roots can be traced all the way back to the early 2000s. During the Tattoo the
Earth Tour in 2000, bands like Mudvayne, Slayer, Slipknot, Sevendust, and Nothingface toured around the country to put on
mind-blowing heavy metal shows. During this tour, Nothingface's Tom Maxwell formed a friendship with Mudvayne's Chad Gray,
a friendship that would later turn into a phenomenal musical collaboration. Years later, Gray and Maxwell decided to collaborate
and they secured a full lineup of knockout metal musicians. When it came time for the band to pick a name, they settled on
Hellyeah, which Gray says reflects the feeling of "late teens, keggers and chicks and AC/DC and Metallica".
