About the Artist
The name Heyoka comes from the Hopi and refers to a trickster
spirit or someone who does the opposite of what those around are doing or what is expected. As such this is the perfect stage
name for Andrei Olenev, a DJ who is constantly pushing the boundaries of the dance music genre and creates electronic dance
music unlike anything else you will find on dance floors around the world. It was in 2006 that Heyoka first burst out onto
the underground glitch and bass scene in San Francisco. Although he makes music that at times seems like it comes from another
dimension it is never inaccessible and is endlessly danceable. Early in his career Heyoka was influenced by IDM, downtempo,
dub, and hip hop and all of these influences are still evident in his sound which combines several seemingly disparate subgenres
to create something new and exciting. These days Andrei Olenev uses the names Heyoka and his new moniker, Andreilien, virtually
interchangeably but whatever he is calling himself you can rest assured that he will be providing some of the most advanced
and interesting EDM that you have ever heard.
Heyoka first began making a name for himself
performing in underground clubs and really blowing up in the San Francisco scene. The local attention created a bit of buzz
which soon drew the curiosity of promoters and he quickly found himself playing some of the biggest festivals in the world.
He was invited to play at some of the sound camps at Burning Man including Nexus, El Circo, Nexus, Temple of Boom, Entheon
Village, Fractal Nation, and Roots Society. Additionally he has been on stage at some of the most popular parties around the
world including Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Symbiosis, Winter Solstice, Luminate, Earth Freq, Sonic Bloom, and many more.
All of these appearances have opened up Hekoya's unique sound to millions of fans all over the world and he now has a well-deserved
reputation as one of the premiere EDM artists in the world. There is no reason for any electronic music lover to miss out
on seeing Heyoka live as he is constantly touring and playing big parties and clubs all over the world.
shows provide for some of the most exciting concert going experiences anyone could ask for, and performances by Heyoka are
definitely no exception. You've been dancing and partying most of the night and then suddenly the music picks up and the whole
venue seems to surge with energy. Heyoka has taken the stage and started belting out their incomparable sound that has everyone
in the club going wild. The party has really just started in earnest and you are hoping that this night never ends. Just when
you think it can't get any better, Heyoka raises the energy level even higher as the audience starts to go even crazier. Dancing
and sweating the night away with a crowd full of enthusiastic Heyoka fans is something you will never forget and by the time
the duo ends their set you will be anxiously awaiting the next time they come to town.
that the reason behind his name change to Andreilien is the result of Heyoka being abducted in "deep auditory space" where
he was subjected to experiments and mind probes on the distant planet Marklar. While Heyoka was able to return unharmed he
was changed and wanted to be known henceforth as Andreilien. Of course, this is just a rumor and lacks any real scientific
evidence to support the claim so what you decide to believe is up to you.
