What other group has High on Fire frontman Matt Pike also played for?

The answer is Sleep, a stoner doom band that was formed in San Jose, CA. The group earned some early recognition in the 1990s before breaking up near the end of the decade. The group does still come together on occasion for small tours and individual gigs, however.

About the Artist

High on Fire was formed by Matt Pike in 1998 in Oakland, CA. At the time, Pike was a member of the stoner doom band Sleep, but that group soon broke up, paving the way for Pike to put his full efforts into High on Fire. The group debuted with their first effort, The Art of Self Defense, in 2000. The record was actually released three times on three separate labels.

The group followed up The Art of Self Defense in 2002 with Surrounded by Thieves. In 2005 High on Fire released their third album, Blessed Black Wings. The song "Delivution" earned some air play and the group made a music video for the track. The band has released two subsequent albums and has toured with such big name bands as Metallica. They continue to tour and are known for the great live shows that keep fans coming back for each and every concert. They have released three separate live albums to showcase their abilities.

High on Fire's breakthrough moment could be attributed to the breakup of Sleep, the former band of High on Fire frontman Matt Pike. It was then that Pike was able to focus on High on Fire full time and led to the group's 2000 debut, The Art of Self Defense.

Fan Experience

People have been coming together to enjoy live music in cultures around the world for a countless number of years. If you think about it, live music is the true foundation of music, and really the art's purest form. It can be an epic experience to see an artist in a huge amphitheater with thousands upon thousands of screaming fans surrounding you, or it can be an intimate experience in a smaller venue in which you can really connect with everyone in the building. Either way, seeing a concert live always amounts to more than just listening to music. When you head out to see a group like High on Fire hit the stage at a venue near you, you're sure to become enveloped by the entire experience of seeing an artist that you love while surrounded by fellow adoring fans that have at least that one thing in common. And often times, when it comes to music, that one thing is enough to bring people together.

There's something simply incredible about seeing a concert live and in person that keeps people coming back for more whenever one of their favorite artists comes to town. When you see one of your favorite artists hit the stage in the same building that you're in, there's a magnetism that occurs that you can't duplicate anywhere else. High on Fire is known as a top act for a reason, and that's something you'll see for yourself when you head out to catch a live show on their current tour. Get out to see this group hit the stage live and in person so you can experience music the way it's supposed to be experienced. Nothing compares to seeing it done live, so make sure to check out High on Fire on their current tour.
