Hockey East Playoffs tickets

2014 Hockey East Playoffs Schedule

Hockey East is regularly one of the toughest conferences in all of NCAA hockey and this season it appears that the conference is in possession of a few teams capable of making it all the way to the Frozen Four. It is an NCAA Division I, hockey only conference whose participants, with the exception of the University of Notre Dame, are all located in the New England area. Twelve universities participate in Hockey East, with eleven schools playing on the men's side and eight playing on the women's. Each year the top teams in the conference battle it out in the Hockey East Playoffs looking to be on quite a roll by the time they head off to the NCAA Tournament. These teams plain do not like one another and the level of intensity when any Hockey East teams collide in the playoffs is unmatched. Be sure to get your tickets for the 2014 Hockey East Playoffs as soon as possible.

The 2014 Hockey East Playoffs are slated for TD Garden once again, where it has been held each year since 1996. The semifinals will feature UMass Lowell taking on Notre Dame and Providence battling it out with New Hampshire. The two winner swill then go on to face off against one another the following night in a winner takes all championship game. There is little more exciting in all of college sports than seeing the best teams in a high quality hockey conference battling one another for a conference tournament championship in a do or die format so be sure to make the necessary arrangements to be in Boston for the 2014 Hockey East Playoffs.

The Teams

There are currently twelve teams participating in the Hockey East: Boston College, Boston University, the University of Connecticut, the University of Maine, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Merrimack College, the University of New Hampshire, Northteastern University, the University of Notre Dame, Providence College, and the University of Vermont. There are several exciting rivalries among the teams in Hockey East including the Holy War on Ice which takes place between Boston College and Notre Dame, The Border War which is a battle between Maine and New Hampshire, and the Battle for the Teapot which is an annual tournament involving Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern, and Harvard who play in the ECAC.

The Experience

Hockey fans in general, and college hockey fans specifically are hands down some of the most intense and raucous you will find anywhere in the world. Hockey East is fortunate enough to have some of the best fans of them all and they really bring the energy to a whole other level during the playoffs. From the moment you enter the arena it is clear that this will be a sports game unlike anything you have ever experienced. The fans with the help of an enthusiastic announcer help get the arena to the point of exploding just before the puck drops for the opening face off and as the big time hits pile up, and the crack of big slapshots fill the arena the excitement only continues to build. Big plays that will get you out of your seat screaming and high fiving total strangers will have you eager to make a return to the next Hockey East Playoffs game. All of this combines to make an electric environment at any of the excellent arenas in the league whenever two of the premiere Hockey East teams take the ice and there is no other atmosphere in college hockey or perhaps all of college sports which matches that of thousands of hardcore hockey fans cheering and screaming for their favorite Hockey East team during conference playoffs.

The Conference

Hockey East is one of the toughest college hockey conferences in the nation and if you need any corroboration to that fact just ask any long time fan of any of the teams in Hockey East. The league was always one of the best in all of NCAA hockey, but in 2011, to make the conference even tougher, Notre Dame announced that it was joining the conference, becoming Hockey East's only member not located in New England. Teams like Boston College, University of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Boston University, Merrimack, and others make traversing your way through the Hockey East schedule a treacherous undertaking for every team looking to come out of the Hockey East regular season and playoffs unscathed. All of their tough battles during conference play will only serve to make any Hockey East team an even more formidable opponent come tournament time and postseason play so be ready for them to make their mark on NCAA hockey this season.

Trivia

The Hockey East Playoffs championship rounds were held at the Providence Civic Center for the first two years of the tournament before moving to Boston where it has been played ever since.
