The Bengals have also had quite a few players head on to play in the NFL as well, giving Idaho State a reputation for developing some major stars. Did you know that Idaho State alumnus Merril Hoge wasn't drafted until the 10th round of the NFL draft?

Drafted in a round that doesn't even exist today, one might say that many different teams whiffed on Hoge before he was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 261st pick in the 1987 draft. Though never a superstar in the NFL, Hoge was a consistent part of the Steelers' strong running game throughout most of his career.
