        Idan Raichel started his musical career playing for the Israeli Army before his discharge, but it wasn't until he was exposed to traditional Ethiopian music through students he taught at a boarding school that he would discover his passion for world beat. Raichel would release his first album with Helicon Records in 2002 entitled "The Idan Raichel Project", which was met with very positive reviews. This album would be re-released from on Cumbancha Records in 2006.
