The group is the brainchild of Simon Cowell of American Idol fame. Cowell heard an adaptive operatic performance and was inspired, so he spent two years searching for the best four candidates to form a new group. He settled on Carlos Marín, Urs Bühler, David Miller, and Sébastien Izambard.
