not been easy for the Redbirds as they have struggled to make their way back to the Tournament following their most recent
conference tournament win in 1998 when they won it for the second year in a row. Things are on an upswing for the Redbirds
under head coach Dan Muller and they appear poised to make a big move up the Missouri Valley Conference standings in the 2014-2015

The Missouri Valley Conference may often be called
a "mid-major" by sports pundits but this Division I conference is not one to be overlooked. Founded in 1907, the Missouri
Valley conference is the second oldest athletic conference in the United States and younger than only the Big Ten. There are
currently ten schools who make up the Missouri Valley Conference: Drake, Bradley, University of Evansville, Indiana State,
Illinois State, Loyola-Chicago, University of Northern Iowa,Missouri State University, Wichita State, and Southern Illinois
University. Every year the members of the Missouri Valley Conference play each another in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament
which is held in St. Louis, Missouri and has earned the nickname Arch Madness, with the winner earning an automatic bid in
the NCAA Tournament. In the past few seasons Wichita State has dominated the conference in basketball and made a name for
itself in the national rankings, reaching number 2 in the 2013-2014 season as it went 34-0 before entering the Big Dance and
making it to the Final Four at the end of the 2012-2013 season before losing a close game to eventual champions Louisville.
