The Independence Stadium is run by the city of Shreveport and it was first used in 1976 on our nation s bicentennial year. The stadium holds the Independence Bowl, the most famous event at this venue every year. Along with sporting events, the Independence Stadium houses concerts and many other kinds of events.

From the West, take I-20 East to exit 14 for Jewella Avenue. Turn left on Jewella Avenue, right on Fair Street and left on Fisk Street. Take a slight right on Pershing Boulevard. From the East, take I-20 West to exit 16B for Greenwood Road/US-79/US-80. Turn right on Greenwood Road/US-79/US-80, left at Stadium Drive and left on Pershing Boulevard.

Independence Stadium offers easy parking options for fans. There is parking on-site at various lots, but for bigger events those parking options can fill up quickly. For events like the Independence Bowl, Independence Stadium offers a shuttle service from Bossier City and Shreveport. There may be a charge per person for the shuttle.

Independence Stadium has been a long jewel of Shreveport, but it got even better when the stadium went through major renovations lately. The seating capacity increased from 43,000 to 53,000 including a new enclosed area to keep patrons protected. The facelift also brought new televisions, restrooms and concession area.
