Indiana Hoosiers Football Tickets

Indiana Hoosiers football has been part of the Big Ten Conference since 1899, making it one of the longest-tenured programs in the league. The Hoosiers play at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, a venue that has hosted college football since 1960 and seats over 53,000 fans. For most of its history, Indiana was known more for its basketball tradition than anything that happened on the gridiron. That changed in a dramatic way when the program captured its first national championship following the 2025 season, completing a 16-0 run that included a Big Ten title, a Rose Bowl victory, and a College Football Playoff run that rewrote the program's identity.

The roots of Indiana football stretch back to 1887, when the program first took the field. Bo McMillin coached the Hoosiers to their first Big Ten championship in 1945, finishing with an undefeated 9-0-1 record that season. George Taliaferro, a three-time All-American who helped break down racial barriers in college athletics, was a driving force on that squad. John Pont brought Indiana back to prominence in 1967, sharing the Big Ten title and earning the program's first trip to the Rose Bowl. In the late 1980s, Bill Mallory established sustained competitiveness, earning back-to-back Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in 1986 and 1987 while compiling 69 career wins, the most by any head coach in program history. Running back Anthony Thompson set career records with 5,299 rushing yards and 65 touchdowns during his tenure from 1986 to 1989, earning National Player of the Year recognition in 1989. His No. 32 remains the only retired number in Indiana football history.

Gameday at Memorial Stadium carries the energy of a program that has found its footing on a national stage. The Marching Hundred, Indiana's marching band with roots tracing to 1896, performs a pregame concert known as "The Walk" outside Assembly Hall before greeting players as they arrive at the stadium. The crimson-and-cream faithful fill the stands to the tune of "Indiana, Our Indiana," and the return of the bison mascot in 2025 gave the sideline a new identity to match the program's rise. Rivalry games against Purdue, where the teams compete for the Old Oaken Bucket, bring an extra layer of intensity rooted in over a century of in-state competition.
