The Colts in the Playoffs

The Indianapolis Colts are having yet another one season a year after turning the franchise in a new direction with the drafting of quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Colts have their sights set on the AFC South title, and are in position to earn their first division title since the Peyton Manning era in Indianapolis. The AFC South hasn't been the most competitive of divisions in 2013, but the Colts have posted some big wins against some quality clubs this season, including the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately for Indianapolis, the team has played down to some lesser competition as well, but that won't be the case if the Colts are able to make the postseason.

The franchise hit the lottery when they landed the number one pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and were put in a position to select Luck out of Stanford. Fans of the team could immediately see that the organization made a good choice in Luck, as the rookie looked like a seasoned vet out there in 2012 and led the team to the postseason. While the Colts were unable to beat the eventual champion Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs, just getting there seemed like a victory following up a 2-14 season. This year, however, fans are hoping for a playoff victory, and Luck is in a better position to make that happen. The former Cardinal has progressed significantly this season, though the loss of wide receiver Reggie Wayne has hurt a bit. Still, Luck looks ready to lead this team on a deep playoff run, which would be quite an accomplishment in just his second season in the National Football League.

The Team

The Indianapolis Colts are having yet another solid season, this time under the season-long leadership of head coach Chuck Pagano. Last season the Colts lost their coach for much of the year when he was diagnosed with cancer, but the coach and his battle with the disease inspired the team to turn things around and make the postseason. This year, Pagano is back and the Colts have not missed a beat. The Colts have been a steady team for much of the season thanks to the consistency of quarterback Andrew Luck, despite his being just a second-year pro. Though an injury to wide receiver Reggie Wayne has hurt the Colts passing attack, other receivers have step up in his absence and the Indianapolis passing game looks like it can still do a lot of damage to opposing defenses. The Colts are looking to finish atop the AFC South standings and make a run all the way to the Super Bowl.

The Experience

When you head to an NFL game, especially a playoff game, prepare to be wowed by the performance you'll see on the field. These are some of the best athletes in the entire world, though that's something that you need to see for yourself to truly appreciate. The postseason is a magical time in the National Football League, where everything is on the line in each and every game. Fans flock to stadiums across the country to see their favorite teams do battle with some of the best opponents the NFL has to offer. The atmosphere at a playoff football game is like none other in the sporting world, and you can see that for yourself when you join the most loyal of fans in the stands at Lucas Oil Stadium the next time the Indianapolis Colts host a postseason contest.

Colts Trivia

Before the 2012 season, when was the last time the Indianapolis Colts made the playoffs?

The answer is 2010. The team missed the playoffs in 2011 as then-Colt Peyton Manning missed the entire season with a neck injury. Manning was traded the following offseason after the team's section of Andrew Luck with the first pick in the draft.

The History

The Indianapolis Colts have a rich history that goes back a long time. This team has seen some great players line up over the years. Hall-of-Famers like Johnny Unitas and Eric Dickerson played their best years in the blue and white of the Colts, and Peyton Manning gave the Colts one of the best runs in NFL history – one that had them in the playoffs all the time and even brought home a Super Bowl win. The Colts have made the postseason more than 25 times in their illustrious history, and have won the Super Bowl on two occasions.

The Fans

Colts fans have a reputation for being passionate about their team, and when you head to a playoff game at Lucas Oil Stadium you'll see that for yourself. You'll be seated in a sea of blue and white as you cheer for the Colts as they take on one of the best teams in the National Football League.
