2014 Indianapolis Colts Road Schedule

The Indianapolis Colts have plenty of reasons for optimism as they head into 2014, as they come off of a nice 2013 season in which they won the division and rounded into one of the top teams in the AFC. Their work isn't over yet as they look to continue to improve and become a bona fide contender, but the pieces all seem to be in place and they'll be looking to pile up the wins all over the league this season. Home games at Lucas Oil Stadium are always loaded with passionate fans, but the fun definitely doesn't stop there either. The Colts have a very strong fan base that always seems to be popping up in droves on the road as well, making away games just as important and exciting as the home wins.

One of the biggest challengers this season might end up being the Tennessee Titans, an underrated team that the Colts will play on Dec. 28 in Nashville to wrap up the season. Other intense rivalry games will include a trip to Jacksonville on Sept. 21 and Houston on Oct. 9, and the Colts would love to bring home a few road wins within the division to improve their playoff chances. Road games within the AFC South are always riveting affairs, and that will be no different as the Colts to look to solidify their dominance in the division.

But even though the divisional games are sure to be huge, the crown jewel on the schedule might just be opening week. On Sept. 7, the Colts will travel to Denver for a huge night game against the Broncos and Peyton Manning, a player Colts' fans can say they're somewhat acquainted with. With two of the top teams in the AFC and all kinds of star power on both sides of the ball, Broncos-Colts will be one of the most anticipated games of the entire season around the league. A Monday Night Football road game against the Giants in New Jersey on Nov. 3 is another prominent matchup, and don't be surprised if a game in Dallas on Dec. 21 has all kinds of playoff implications. Put it all together and this is a team that is sure to be right in the middle of the action all season long, both home and on the road.

Indianapolis Colts Team Info

The Indianapolis Colts are coming off another fine season under the leadership of young quarterback Andrew Luck, who continues to impress and live up to his billing. Despite some injury issues last year, the Colts still won 11 games and took the division, though now they'll be hoping to take their game to the next level with some key offseason moves that strengthened the core. Reggie Wayne is back and the Colts added Hakeem Nicks, a receiver who definitely has plenty more in the tank as he looks to create the perfect second option for Luck. On defense, this is also a very underrated unit that is known for its balance, which is why the Colts have a chance to win every time they take to the gridiron.

NFL Road Experience

On the road, the Colts will face some serious challenges, and that's exactly why there's sure to be such an unbelievable atmosphere throughout the season during Colts' away games. The Colts will take to the road this season to face off with some top teams in the AFC, and you can be there to see all of the action unfold right before your very eyes by seeing them the way they were meant to be seen. It doesn't get any better than seeing your favorite team on the road, as you'll get a great glimpse into the toughness of a team and you'll end up with an opportunity to see the Colts from a whole new perspective that you won't soon forget.

Indianapolis Colts History

The Indianapolis Colts have a history that goes all the way back to 1953, and the team has had many memorable seasons since. The Colts originated in the city of Baltimore, MD before moving to their present day location in Indianapolis. The franchise captured its first Super Bowl victory in 1970 and won it all again in 2006, the latter coming behind the arm of quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning had some incredible seasons as the signal caller for the Colts, even setting a new record for passing touchdowns during his best statistical season in Indianapolis. The Colts have also made the postseason more than 25 times in their illustrious history, and now they're in another exciting new era that has fans dreaming about the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Indianapolis Colts Trivia

Did you know that Marshall Faulk got going playing for the blue and white of Indy?

Sure, many NFL fans can remember Marshall taking his game to the next level and helping the St. Louis Rams capture a championship, but he first gave Indy fans a taste of his all-world talents dominating defense for years before heading over to St. Louis. Faulk ended up being one of the best offensive players in the history of the franchise – and the league as well – and number 28 is still a number that everyone around Indy knows represents some of the most exciting football in team history.
